An introduction to the band: Pearl Jam was one of the frontrunners of the Seattle music explosion in the early 1990's, accompanied by such bands as Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. The new genre of music, named "grunge", found an audience with teens and young adults who felt misplaced in and angry at the world, as much of grunge music centered on social problems shared by all. Pearl Jam is one of the few surviving groups of its kind. Over the years its members have time and time again made news in the industry, be it their boycott on music videos, their impassioned activism, or their spectacular live shows. The band continues to grow and evolve both musically and personally throughout its career. | ||
